In elementary school, Patty and I spent many a days beating our favorite boys at yard games, ball games and beating them up. There were baseball bats inadvertantly swung to the lips and thrown at the shin (circa Middle School), throwing of bodies off the front of borrowed BMXs, and the borrowing and tearing of (her) older sisters' clothes. Many years after many calls of "Meet you at the corner in 3 minutes"" and many cross town bus rides just for the hell of it, our conversations evolve around weddings, marriage, and trading children when our own get on our nerves. Patty is one of few female firefighters with the San Francisco Fre Department, a community role model, a wonderful friend, and the woman everyone wants on their side. Patricia Yuen is my Matron-of-Honor.

The way to her affections is by eating as much as you can, as fast as you can with your hands. Gloria and I have shared many, many meals over the years, have eaten a population of crabs, shed tears, rolled with laughter that made our eyes water and bellies ache, chattered senselessly for hours on end and partnered up in many'a volleyball doubles matches. Unemployment wouldn't have been nearly as fun or unproductive without our daily coffee meets and walks along on the sunny streets of University Ave of Palo Alto or laying around by the pool. Gloria is gifted with the unusual skill of tricking you into answering the same question 47 times by posing it 47 different ways. Usually, you don't realize that she's just put you through the wringer until you open your clenched fists to find handfuls of hair. Inspite of this, she is my friend for life, and my favorite person to da-yance with. Our time together is one of the top 5 things that I will miss when I move to Paris. Gloria Chow is my Maid-of-Honor.

College housemate, partner in crime, confidante, and keeper of dirty secrets in late night and early mornings in our sunny kitchen. From hours of playing ball at the Rec Center and straight over downtown to the clubs and bars for late night partying during our university days, Vikky and I were an inseparable duo. Victoria Bautista-Rodriguez is my Bridesmaid.

As good as a sister (-in-law) and equally great friend. Joycelyn is like family. She even manages to make shopping fun for me, with general silliness and the small size of a table is never issue when dining, as we order everything we desire. Everything. She does everything with spirited gusto, including running the super popular Richmond district go-to jointBurma Superstar. After a day of hearty laughter and talking bad about my brothers with her, I'm always sorry to see our rare outings together come to end late at night. Joycelyn Lee is my Bridesmaid. |
